Russell, who will play in the Under Armour All-American game on Jan. 2, is the second defensive line commitment Auburn has landed in the last 10 days. Junior college defensive end DaVonte Lambert was one of four players to sign with Auburn on Dec. 18.
Auburn’s 2014 recruiting class now has 21 commitments and is ranked No. 6 by 247Sports and No. 8 by Rivals. The Tigers also have commitments from three-star junior college defensive tackles Dalvon Stuckey and Devaroe Lawrence.
Auburn loses defensive tackles Kenneth Carter and Nosa Eguae to graduation after this season and returns Gabe Wright, Ben Bradley, Montravius Adams and Angelo Blackson.
