AUBURN – Gus Malzahn will have a second role to fill on his support staff after national signing day. Auburn analyst Dell McGee is leaving to take the position of running backs coach at Georgia Southern, according to a tweet from Auburn running backs coach Tim Horton.

McGee previously coached at Carver-Columbus where he had a 88-19 record and won a state championship in 2007. He also played cornerback at Auburn in the 1990s and spent a short time with the Arizona Cardinals in 1998.
Malzahn has said he hopes to give more high school coaches opportunities at the collegiate level and both members of his support staff to leave this off-season have taken assistant coaching positions.
Last week, director of high school relations and former longtime Carver coach Al Pogue was hired to coach cornerbacks at Troy. Malzahn told reporters he would look to fill the vacancy after National Signing Day on Feb. 5.
