Spring Practice: Day 14

AUBURN – The Tigers held a helmet-only practice Thursday morning in their on-field activities before Saturday’s A-Day game.

“Overall I thought our guys were excited to practice and had good energy,” coach Gus Malzahn said. “I know they are looking forward to A-Day.”

Players to receive SEC Champions rings before A-Day game

AUBURN – The final celebratory act of Auburn’s incredible 2013 season, receiving the SEC Champions rings, will be done prior to Saturday’s A-Day game.

The hardware, a picture of which was tweeted out by Tigers coach Gus Malzahn on Tuesday, will be given to members of last season’s team, which posted the biggest single-season turnaround in conference history, going from 0-8 to 7-1.

Malzahn, Bo Jackson to pair up at Chick-fil-A Bowl Challenge

AUBURN – Gus Malzahn and Bo Jackson will represent Team Auburn at the eighth annual Chick-fil-A Bowl Challenge charity golf tournament held April 27-29 at the Reynolds Plantation resort on Lake Oconee outside Atlanta.

The 11-team field of college head coaches and celebrity alumni is set to compete for their share of the $520,000 scholarship money for their universities.

“This event is really a celebration of college football, with National Coaches of the Year, Heisman Trophy winners and celebrity alumni, all representing their universities in a competition for scholarship money for their schools,” said Gary Stokan, president and CEO of the Chick-fil-A Bowl in a statement.… More

Spring Practice: Day 13

AUBURN – We’re live from the final open viewing of Auburn practice this spring.

It’s practice No. 13, with A-Day just five days away.

  • Chad Slade was back to working at right guard and Avery Young was at right tackle. Interestingly, Patrick Miller stayed at right tackle behind Young.
  • Ricardo Louis is over his “minor ailment” from last week and back in pads.
  • Special teams was working on downing punts.
  • Nick Marshall was out there, not clear if whatever prevented him from fully participating on Saturday.
