AUBURN — ESPN announced Super Tuesday men’s basketball doubleheaders with games from the Big Ten and SEC this season beginning Jan. 7. Auburn is among four SEC programs not included in the prime time national television schedule, along with Georgia, South Carolina and Mississippi State.
The Tigers are coming off a 9-23 season in 2012-13 in which they lost 16 of their final 17 games, the worst single-season stretch ever for the program, to finish last in the SEC. Coach Tony Barbee enters his fourth season as Auburn head coach with the worst three-year conference record ever for the program.
The Tigers lost leading scorer Frankie Sullivan, leading rebounder Rob Chubb and starting point guard Josh Wallace to graduation and sophomore Shaq Johnson was dismissed following an arrest for possession of marijuana. Auburn recently completed a week-long trip to the Bahamas in which it won two games.
