AUBURN – Forward Chris Griffin has been suspended indefinitely for a violation of school policy, Auburn coach Tony Barbee announced in a statement minutes before tip off of Saturday’s game with Missouri.
“Right now I am more interested in Chris the man than Chris the basketball player,” Barbee said in a statement.
There is no timetable for the return of the junior, who transferred from Wabash Valley College. Griffin was averaging 5.7 points on 35 percent shooting and four rebounds in 16.7 minutes off the bench for the Tigers this season.
Prior to the third game of the season, Griffin took a five-game leave from the team for what were described as personal reasons.
His suspension leaves Auburn very thin at power forward, where Griffin was playing behind Allen Payne.
