AUBURN – Left guard Alex Kozan was the lone Auburn player on the SEC All–Freshman team, the league announced Thursday. The 6-foot-4 297-pound redshirt freshman started all 13 games thus far for No. 2 Auburn (12-1), filling in the void left by the departure of John Sullen after last season.
The Castle Rock, Colo. native was part of an offensive line which went from last in the SEC and among the worst in the country in sacks allowed 2012 to third in the SEC and tied for 21st nationally this season (1.23 per game).
Somewhat surprising omissions were right tackle Avery Young, who started the final eight games of the season, and defensive end Carl Lawson, who had 20 tackles, with 7 1/2 for loss and four sacks.
Ole Miss wide receiver Laquon Treadwell was named the SEC’s Freshman of the Year on Wednesday. Florida defensive back Vernon Hargreaves on Tuesday was named to the All-SEC First Team.
