AUBURN — Tigers defensive end Carl Lawson was named the SEC Freshman of the Week, the conference announced Monday. The true freshman had a career-high six tackles, including 3 1/2 for loss with two sacks in Saturday’s 30-22 win over Ole Miss.

Lawson, Dee Ford and Gabe Wright combined for six sacks, the most for an Auburn defense since an 11-sack outing against Alabama in the 2005 Iron Bowl. Auburn also had 14 tackles for loss against the Rebels in the first win over a ranked opponent since 2011 for the Tigers.
